Attention Professional and Amateur Photographers!
The State Historic Preservation Office Wants YOU to Enter it’s First-Ever Photography Contest!
The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) wants YOU to Celebrate Preservation by photographing Michigan!
We're looking for photos of Michigan buildings, preferably with people in them.
Any type of building is fine:
- a barn
- a brewery
- a church
- a courthouse
- a commercial building
- a historic house
- a variety of buildings in a historic neighborhood or district
Try to capture the moments that occur in Michigan's historic neighborhoods and downtowns and in rural areas and small towns when people are enjoying themselves in or around historic structures, rehabilitating historic buildings, or just walking in historic neighborhoods enjoying their surroundings.
We encourage amateur and professional photographers alike to submit photos of historic structures from now through July 31st.
You will have the chance to win a Meijer gift card or one of three grand prizes including getaway packages to Detroit’s Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, Traverse City’s Park Place Hotel, and Stafford’s Perry Hotel in Petoskey.
Go to www.michigan.gov/celebratepreservation and click on the link under Contest Guidelines for official rules and other details of the contest. Good luck and pass this along to your friends and colleagues!
