The following statement was released today by Carol Petredean-DiSalvio, Board Chair, Arts and Industry Council.

Arts and culture are a vital component of a healthy, successful, vibrant community. The current mission of the Arts and Industry Council (AIC) is as follows: The Calhoun County Arts and Industry Council promotes economic development and quality of life by fostering creative industries and artistic expression, with an emphasis on youth.

Since the Arts Council was originally founded in 1964, we have continuously striven to use our resources to best meet community needs. Given the current economic environment, the AIC Board of Directors has decided to take an objective look at the organization, scrutinizing its mission and its role in the community.

We will concentrate ALL of our efforts on evaluating this vital component of arts and culture in the entire Calhoun County area. In an effort to further reduce expenditures and maximize program funding, the AIC Board of Directors will act as liaisons to the Calhoun County community in lieu of full-time office staff.

We are committed to arts and cultural activities in our county. Today’s announcement marks an important step towards continuing a strong, fresh, and robust arts and cultural community serving everyone who lives, works, and visits our community.
