Artist Statement
As an artist I am interested and influenced by contemporary art in various media, but more importantly in ceramics and sculpture. I enjoy creating 2-D and 3-D works of art working with different mediums, however, the hands-on nature of clay is my true passion. I chose clay as my medium mainly for this reason and focus more specifically on the concepts and nature of the teapot due to its challenging form and predetermined function. I mainly create functional pottery of both traditional and contemporary style that everyone can enjoy. I feel lucky to be able to do something I love and be able to share it with others.

Artist Bio
I have always made creative messes growing up and still continue to do so today. I was first introduced to throwing pottery in my high school art class and have continued ever since.

I received my BA in studio art with a focus in ceramics from DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana. Continuing my education with graduate work in ceramics at Western University allowed me to work and at the same time, put together my studio.

Currently, I live in Ann Arbor, MI creating beer steins for The Corner Brewery and am looking forward to my upcoming exhibition there. My work will also be for sale in the Shipshewana downtown this summer! You may also find me teaching clay classes at the Open Door Gallery of Sturgis, MI, where my work is also for sale. I love working with children and seeing their imaginations through what they create!
