Artist Statement
[on Time and Memory]

The lens-based mediums allow me an essential outlet of creativity in order to capture and render real time events in order to re-present the memory ghost of things passed. Residual and unrealized memories are hindrances to future progression. Through my art making I have been able to establish the reality of memory and the effects of mythological presence within modern society. The [un]natural parallel of the macabre and photographic mediums are prevalent in my works as I investigate scenarios of death and loss. This is a natural phenomenon and we, as people, continue to either ignore or fetishize the departure of human spirit.

Heather Stratton is a practicing fine artist primarily in the medium of photography. She balances her commercial foundation along with artistic freedom by way of fine art and freelance photography and design. Her specialties include conceptual photography as well as senior portraits.
